1995: Democratic president Bill Clinton pressured Haiti to cut import tariffs on rice from 50% to 3%, to favor the exportation of subsidized rice from his home state, Arkansas.

1950: Haiti was one of the first countries to assist South Koreak with military and financial supports during the Korean War.
